Got the crew moving bright and early and headed for Dawson’s. My first time piloting without Mom or Dad. Fixed an issue with the motor not peeing and met the 2nd boat (Greg’s) at Wachapreague marina.
Had a beautiful day on the island. Showed the kids horseshoe crabs, hermit crabs, ghost crabs, and moon snail shells. Love Dawson’s configuration this year with an internal tidal pool and small bird sanctuary (not great for birds I guess).
Brief crisis when we got stuck on a sand bar near Cedar on the way home, but Molly, Kayla, and I freed the boat and got us back underway.
Kids skipped the carnival tonight but Mom and I went over at the end of the night to get the raffle mower. Watched the last two songs of Corn Funk Revue and got a little misty-eyed listening to Peg’s tribute to Chris, “You Can Count on Me.” Reminisced with Mary Margaret about the barrier island camping trip and the water spout.
