Headed down to Elkhorn Slough (slew) this morning for a kayak with seals and otters. Learned that Charlie hates paddles.
After we got off the water we ate at a little restaurant nearby called Sea Harvest and had the best fish tacos or our lives. I also had a Hazy Jane that I really enjoyed.
Headed up to Santa Cruz for some time at the beach. After passing a line of police cars ultra low-speed chasing a motorized wheelchair as it puttered up the highway off-ramp, we parked in a neighborhood and walked down the steep cliff stairs to the beach. Chilly, but Isla got to dip her toes in the Pacific.
Next stop was a fancy restaurant, Bittersweet Bistro, where we intended to watch the sunset, but no sunset views were available. Instead we drank expensive cocktails and ate expensive dessert. We declined the $45 beef stroganoff and the $600 2-ounce digestif.
Lesley played us every remix of Total Eclipse of the Heart on the ride home, then we played Overcooked and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. I went to bed but Lesley and Isla stayed up playing Othello and singing Hamilton until the wee hours.
